Tiny House Community Development (THCD) builds tiny house communities to help alleviate homelessness and encourages those needing shelter and a trade to participate in the construction of these communities. Therefore, THCD developed an education program for those individuals experiencing homelessness including veterans, those coming from halfway housing and incarceration, an opportunity to educate themselves in the construction trade and soon in plumbing and electrical. They receive the nationally accredited National Center for Construction Education and Research Core Basic Construction Skills certification through a 8-10 week course. With this certification, the students have an opportunity to be hired by local contractors at $15 to $18 an hour and lift themselves out of a poverty level situation.
